COMMENT. Reg. Hong Kong 455.
If this letter is to be sent on it must be returned to Room 44.
In this copy correspondence posted in Hong Kong the first sheet (letter A) is headed Hong Kong, the remaining sheets "Mongkok" (?) but it is not clear whether it was written in Hong
Kong or in Manila. The following points may be of interest. Letter A. Begins "My last letter dates from 28th March owing to certain circumstances which I have explained in my privatë letter to Mr. Ingenohl of 15th inst. it was necessary to dis- continue the correspondence. Possibly because the addressee
was placed on the Statutory list,
Clip 1. Gives list with dates of letters received since Feb. from Rotterdam (7) these are from "C.l.", the addressee, and "M.K." possibly Mr. Knauff an employee of the addressee in
Rotterdam, mentioned overleaf.
Clip 2. States "As Mr. Ingernohl will understand, the Government has refused to grant permits to remit further money at present." This would presumably refer to the Hong Kong Government.

Clip 3. Steamer Sigmaringen: on the 1st of April we sent Monsieur Franc Bruadifune at Syracuse the B/L." From W.W. XIII. p.114. This gentleman's name appears to be Francisco Boccadifuoco Vice Consul for Belgium. It would seem to be misspelled here on purpose. The B/L. probably relates to a prewar shipment as this N.D.L.steamer is interp 1 at Syracuse.

Clip 4. Relates to cigar labels ordered in Hong dong of which some samples are enclosed. Letter B. Gives list of orders for cigars still pending, most of these are from small Hong Kong Chinese shops. Clip C. A Bill of Lading for 12 packages Tobacco per "Sumatra 4 Amsterdam to Hongkong dated 8th June 1915. were shipped by the addressee, but before he was placed on the Statutory List. He might possibly have asked for this in order to make some claim in connection with the cargo. There is also enclosed copy of the Hong Kong Government Gazette Ordinance to provide for taxation of Tobacco. 14.7.16.
